TLC in NYC

Oh New York, how lovely you are in the spring time. You're my destination when I'm exhausted of the never-ending Winter blah's of the Great White North. Each visit gets better and I'm left with a longing to return every time we say good-bye.
My travel buddy is always my bezzie mate, who appreciates all of the same qualities and highlights of New York as I do: the dining experiences, the luxury boutique hotel, the galleries and museums, the long walks in Central Park and of course, the shopping. We're both highly skilled at cramming as much as humanly possible in a long weekend in NYC that leaves us with enough memories to reflect on until our next sojourn.

Here are some of our top picks:

The Stay...

We have made The Refinery Hotel our home away from home. I'm pretty sure I won't stay anywhere else as it encompasses everything that is important to me in a hotel: exceptional onsite dining and entertainment (best rooftop lounge, classic live jazz at Winnie's which is the hotel's lobby bar and top eats at Parker & Quinn, the hotel's restaurant), incredible service, massive loft style rooms that boast the best bed linens and shower pressure that just won't quit. Then there's the location, location, location! It's walking distance from Central Park, MoMA and all the shopping a girl could ask for.

The Shop...

Of course the shopping in NYC is amazing. This is New York we're talkin' 'bout here. We hit up the usual haunts: Macy's, Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdale's, Neiman Marcus; all of which have consistently had some sort of sale going on when we visit in April/May. If you're looking for deals then a trip to any location of Nordstrom Rack is a must. Be sure to plan to spend serious time in the latter as you'll get lost trying on everything.

The Art...

MoMA (The Museum of Modern Art) is a must visit. It's an exceptional experience. As is a trip to the West Village to The Whitney. Be aware that if you are heading to the West Village on the weekend, none of the shops open until noon so plan accordingly to get the most out of that hood as you can.

The Park...Central Park, that is. Burn off all the calories you'll consume in NYC here. Plus, it's remarkably stunning in the Spring.

The Eats...

Happily I can vouch for many restaurants in NYC through personal experience but these are the ones that I'll return to:

-Blue Hill  (Don't kid yourself, you'll need reservations months in advance for this one)
-Marta
-Charlie Bird
- Estela
-L'Artusi
